I was published in The Vogue of Horse magazines
Months ago, I saw one of my favorite magazines was looking for submissions for their next volume.
You’ve probably heard of it- Calling All Horse Girls
It’s one of the coolest magazines I’ve ever seen, and I’m not just saying that because clearly it speaks my language and has allllll the horse girl energy you can pack into 100 and something pages.
I missed out on Volume 1 (it sold out, twice I think?!). I’m still hoping they’ll bring it back so I can get it and obviously never miss a volume again.
That being said, I just received Volume 2 in the mail yesterday and it is STUNNING. It’s all your horse girl dreams in vibrant colors, beautiful photos, and amazing stories. It’s just not your typical equestrian magazine..it is a vibe, it is a mood, it is different, it is edgy- that’s why I call it The Vogue of all the horse magazines, & I’m in love.
But clearly I’m not biased or anything.
Maybe a little.
When they were calling for submissions with the theme of “working horse girl”, I got busy and wrote a poem. If you follow me on instagram you know I love to rhyme. I’ll rhyme about anything that I feel passionate enough about, including horse products (like equestriess atelier trews, and HorseScents halter/bridle attachments) and of course my fav pony noses- Atticus and Porky.
I was SO excited when I got an email that said my poem would be in Volume 2. Whattttt!!
Yes.
It was a long wait for Volume 2 to come out and to see it in print, but it was so worth it. It is below for your enjoyment, but I hope you’ll snag yourself a copy so you can read all of Volume 2 in its’ glory- I can assure you, it’s worth it.

“Working Horse Girl”
You’ve been chasing your horse dreams year after year,
For as long as you can remember your goals have been clear.
They called you Horse Girl and you wore breeches to school,
You proudly wore the title even though it wasn’t meant to be cool.
Your barn is so clean you can eat off the floor
Cleaning up there never feels like a chore.
You’ll only work out if it makes you ride better,
Anything horse related, you’re a real go getter.
You’re willing to do anything for your horse,
Even waking up early to muck stalls, of course!
In fact, waking up at 3 am for a horse show is easy,
But waking up that early for anything else makes you queasy.
You might be that Horse Girl trying to go pro,
Or the adult ammy with room to grow.
Maybe what you have is a passion to teach,
It’s those little Horse Girls you’re bound to reach.
Perhaps you’ve just launched an equestrian business of some sort,
A clothing brand, riding instructor, a boarding facility- all are part of our sport.
At the end of the day, we can all agree,
The love of the horse brings us together, you see.
So let’s support one another in this love we share,
As hard working Horse Girls with hearts so rare.
